3G Artificial Rugby Pitch Testing

It’s been a long day testing an artificial 3G rugby pitch. Here is our HIC equipment (EN 1177) in use at a school in Plymouth, UK. This equipment tests the “critical fall height” values of artificial grass pitches.

The FA 3G Pitch Testing

Surface Performance recently became accredited by The F.A to perform 3G pitch testing.

The FA specify that all pitches of all sizes that are used for competitive play outside of the NLS must be tested in accordance with BS EN 15330 by a recognised testing institute (a test laboratory that is either accredited by FIFA or having UKAS accreditation for all of the 3G pitch test methods specified).

In order for a pitch to remain on The FA 3G pitch resister then it will need to be tested every three years. If a pitch is tested and certified under the FIFA Quality Programme for Football Turf, the pitch will remain on the FA register for three years from the date of the field test.
